Welcome Jonas, we are happy to have you here!
Jonas is a Resident Advisor (RA) at the ESC. He joined the team at the beginning of August, 2016. Before joining the ESC Jonas has worked as a resident advisor for the last two years at the Heidelberg University, where he was responsible for 150 students from over 30 countries. Born in Karlsruhe, Jonas is currently studying law at the Heidelberg University and will be graduating next year. He speaks German, English, Italian and French; dances Hip-Hop and Salsa, and is going to work overseas after graduation.
Q: What will you be responsible for as a RA ?
A: As a resident advisor I will be addressing student needs and encouraging involvement among the ESC residents in all important matters including housing and living at the dorm as well as in Heidelberg. I will also support students during orientation and opening week activities. Besides, I will be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the ESC housing rules and policies.
Q: Why did you apply for this job? What was your motivation?
A: My motivation to work with students comes from the fact that I am a student myself and I also studied and worked abroad in Australia and Brazil. I know that it is not always easy to stay in a foreign country and I am really happy that I can help the ESC students making the process of their adjustment to a new culture easier. I also find it fascinating to meet people from different cultures and learn from them, and at the same time helping them to understand and accept the culture of Germany, the country I am from.
