Scholarships

Scholarships awarded by CEPA Foundation are merit and need-based.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completed program application
  • Scholarship application 
  • 3.0 GPA or higher (unofficial transcript)
  • Resume
  • Personal essay 
  • Study abroad advisor's signature

Your personal essay should answer one or more of the following questions in 400-500 words:

• Describe how a personal experience or person in your life has motivated you to study abroad?
• What are your personal, academic, and career goals while abroad?
• How do you think or hope that your study abroad experience will affect your life once you return home?
• *If applying for the Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship, please include your accomplishments as a student leader.

Application Deadlines

Spring Semester Program: October 1
*Scholarship applications recieved after the October 1 deadline will be reviewed based on availability. We understand that school application deadlines and processing times may vary by institution. Do not let the deadline deter you from submitting a scholarship application, you will still be considered.

Scholarship Notification Process

In most cases, scholarship decisions are made prior to the program application deadlines. Students will be informed in a timely manner about the decision.

Funding Opportunities

Global Major Scholarship
Amount: up to $1,000
Eligibility: Any student participating in a CEPA Foundation semester abroad program.

First Generation Scholarship
Amount: up to $1,000
Eligibility: Students participating in a CEPA Foundation semester program who are the first in their family to study at a university/college.
Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship
Amount: up to $2,500
Eligibility: Available to students enrolled in the Summer Intercultural Leadership Program. This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student who has demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm as a student leader. Students are eligible to apply for this scholarship after enrolling in the Summer Intercultural Leadership Program in Strasbourg, France.

Leadership Scholarship:
Amount: up to $1,000
Eligibility: Available to students enrolled in the Summer Intercultural Leadership program. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their achievements as student leaders on their home campus.

Intercultural Scholarship
Amount: up to $500
Eligibility:Available to students enrolled in the Summer Intercultural Leadership Program. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how they have used their intercultural knowledge, skills, or understanding on their home campus.
Affiliate Grant
Amount: $150 (summer), $300 (semester)
Eligibility: Students from affiliate partner universities are eligible to automatically receive an affiliate grant for the summer leadership program and/or the ESC semester programs.

Other Grants and Scholarships

Amount: starting at $3,000
Eligibility: The Sones Scholarship for study in France is made possible by a generous gift from Dr. Peter Sones and Mrs. Lindsey Sones. The aim of this scholarship is to provide an opportunity for UF students to earn academic credit towards their degree in an environment which also provides immersion in French culture and/or language. This unique scholarship is open to UF undergraduates a minimum of 2.5 GPA who seek to undertake courses in their major or minor through study abroad in France on a UF approved, credit-bearing, exchange, or provider program. Students who elect to participate in a credit-bearing research project in a French institute are also eligible to apply. Selected Sones Scholars will be awarded up to $5,000 for a semester program and up to $ 2500 for a summer program.
