The CEPA partnership with the Jacobson Institute offers a series of global learning pathways and programming to foster global fluency by building skill capacity via global immersion experiences.

"Global Fluency for Leaders” in Germany and France October 6 - 15, 2023 (11 days)

This program was developed in collaboration with the Jacobson Institute at Grand View University

Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday, October 6

  • Depart for Heidelberg, Germany

Day 2 - Saturday, October 7 - Frankfurt - Heidelberg

  • Arrive at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)
  • Transportation by private bus from the airport to your hotel in Heidelberg
  • Stay 1 night in single or twin rooms with private bathrooms incl. breakfast at a 3-star hotel in Heidelberg
  • Orientation session by your on-site coordinator at the hotel
  • Guided walking tour of Heidelberg to get a feel for this beautiful German city
  • Guided tour of the beautiful and historical Heidelberg Castle
  • Welcome dinner at a restaurant in Heidelberg to kick off the program

Day 3 - Sunday, October 8 - Heidelberg - Baden-Baden - Strasbourg

  • Guided tour of the Mercedes-Benz Museum to learn about the history and production line of this company 
  • Guided tour of the Casino in Baden Baden, one of the world’s most beautiful and renowned casinos
  • Afterwards, travel to Strasbourg, France
  • Stay 5 nights in single or twins rooms with private bathrooms incl. breakfast at the 3-star hotel Château de Pourtalès in its building “Le Parc”
  • Welcome and orientation session at the Château
  • Tarte flambée dinner at a local restaurant

Day 4 - Monday, October 9 - Strasbourg

  • Guest lecture at the Château de Pourtalès on “Intercultural Communication” by a local expert (morning)
  • Meeting at the “Région Grand Est” with the Director of International Relations to learn about the Economic impact and development of the “Grand Est Region”
  • Enjoy the rest of your evening at your leisure to explore the beautiful city of Strasbourg

Day 5 - Tuesday, October 10 - Strasbourg - Offenburg

  • Guest Lecture by a Professor at the Hochschule Offenburg on “Innovation, Creativity and Problem Solving from a European Perspective”
  • Visit to start-up “Black Forest Innovation,” to meet the team to discuss and learn about innovative sustainable leadership approaches as well as the market in South-West Germany.
  • Networking reception with young business leaders from in and around the region of Alsace

Day 6 - Wednesday, October 11 - Strasbourg

  • Guest lecture on business in France and Germany (morning or afternoon: Tbc)
  • VIP visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to learn about this situation’s role and responsibilities within the European Union (possible special guest lecture: topic Tbc)
  • Meeting with the US Consul General of Strasbourg to discuss the important work of the Consulate in the Grand Est Region. One of the US Consul General’s duties is to represent the US at the Council of Europe (TBC)
  • Evening Wine and Cheese Reception with the owners of Château de Pourtalès, Harald, and Uli Leibrecht. Harald served as a member of the German Parliament working as a Coordinator of Transatlantic Relations for the German Government and has an in-depth knowledge of current events within the EU.

Day 7 - Thursday, October 12 - Alsace

  • Spend the day with a professional tour guide to learn about the Alsatian wine road and see its picturesque landscapes and villages
  • Guided tour of the Haut Koenigsbourg Castle built in the 12th century
  • Group lunch at a typical Alsatian restaurant on the wine road

Day 8 - Friday, October 13 - Strasbourg - Paris

  • Meeting with the Director of Business and Economic Development in the Grand Est Region (Tbc)
  • Travel by TGV high speed train to Paris from Strasbourg (approx.: 2 hours)
  • Transportation by private bus to the hotel in Paris
  • 2 nights in single or twin rooms with private bathrooms incl. breakfast at a 3-star hotel in Paris
  • The remainder of the evening is free to explore Paris on your own

Day 9 - Saturday, October 14 - Paris

  • Guided tour of the Louvre. With treasures from civilizations ranging from the Egyptians to the Greeks and Romans, as well as the legendary “Mona Lisa”, the Louvre contains one of the world’s very best art and artifact collections.
  • Use your last afternoon in Paris for final discussions and reflection or to take a train to Versailles to visit this famous château and its breath-taking gardens
  • Farewell dinner cruise in Paris to wrap up the program as well as to experience this beautiful city by night

Day 10 - Sunday, October 15 - Paris - USA

  • Departure from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to the USA (airfare not included)
