At CEPA, we care about people, the environment, and feel responsible to protect the planet for future generations. Our goal is to work toward creating study abroad programs with limited impact on the environment.
Your donation will be used in two ways to:
- Help fund the reforestation and ecological projects in the Osa Conservation Area of Costa Rica that address climate change and support the local community.
- Purchase CERs green bonds from UN recognized carbon reduction projects
You will receive an official certificate from us stating the exact amount of CO2 which has been offset and the number of trees which will be planted.
What are CERs?
UN-certified emission reductions credits, so called CERs, are generated from Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects, which are partly funded by the investment you make when purchasing offsetting credits. Offsetting funds existing projects, which encourages them to continue reducing emissions, while spurring the development of additional emission-reduction projects.
CDM offers a robust portfolio of UN CERs to choose from. With more than 8000 registered projects in 105 developing countries, and 27 project types, credits are available to help meet a wide variety of sustainability and social responsibility objectives.
These projects also bring additional sustainable development benefits to the communities where they are located, contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. See examples of the projects your offsetting supports.
